Hello!!!

So I have wanted to start a counseling blog but with being a mommy of 2, wife to a wonderful husband, counselor, sunday school teacher, and avid shopper it was a bit hard to find the time to start. Yet, after being an elementary counselor for almost a year now I wanted to share some ideas and have the chance to help any new school counselors out like I have been helped out by so many other amazing elementary counselor blogs! It may be a shaky start as I figure it all out but I hope it can become a great place to exchange ideas with other school counselors!

So let me start with a lil' introduction!!
I am an elementary counselor in Texas and absolutely love it! I have been a middle school counselor, kindergarten teacher, and first grade teacher and I know elementary is what God made me for! Even though it is hard to be away from my sweet kiddos who are 2 and 5, I must say that I love going to work every day.
My babies...pretty stinkin' cute, huh?
As with most school counselors, I use a lot of solution focused therapy but I love integrating literacy, crafts, and games. I also love Adlerian therapy but with such a large, quick paced case load I don't get to use it much! At my campus, I am the 504 coordinator and SST (Student Support Team) chair. I do guidance for grades K-5 and run many school groups and other activities on campus along with helping out my admin team. It's a pretty sweet deal. I am in a school which serves mostly Spanish speaking students (which I don't speak ) and we serve refugee students from around the world. It is pretty amazing and diverse!

So, that's a little about me and my campus....here is a little office tour which is always being updated and organized!
